Voice control phones hot
MORE than 80 percent of Chinese consumers want to have a voice control feature on smartphones, which makes it one of the killer applications in the domestic market in 2015, an industry survey showed yesterday.
Voice assistant function has become a trend since the debut of Apple Inc’s Siri, Google Now and Microsoft Corp’s Cortana. In China, companies including ZTE and Meizu offer users more localized voice control services, analysts said.
Forty-one percent of Chinese consumers are considering buying smartphones equipped with a voice control feature, which cost about 1,000-3,000 yuan (US$161-483), according to the survey conducted by research companies GFK and BlueTango.
The most popular voice-controlled services include answering calls, taking pictures, unlocking phones and doing searches, according to the survey, China’s first smartphone voice-related report.
