Vow to keep salaries and benefits in transfer

Lenovo Group Ltd, which paid US$2.3 billion to acquire IBM’s server business, said it will keep salaries and benefits of all IBM’s workers who are expected to transfer to the Chinese giant, after a strike broke out in an IBM’s factory in Shenzhen last week.

“To ensure a smooth transition, Lenovo is committed to providing opportunity for all employees from IBM’s x86 server department who transfer to Lenovo, without any cut in their wages and benefits,” Lenovo said.

More than 1,000 workers went on strike at IBM System Technology’s plant in Shenzhen last week, media reports said. They protested over the terms of their potential transfer to Lenovo, which said in January that it bought the server business.
