The attack began on Friday is believed to be the biggest online extortion attack yet recorded, spreading chaos by locking computers globally. In China, some computers in universities, passport application centers, gas stations, and other industrial and government agencies are infected.

Firms including Tencent and 360 have offered special tools on their websites and advise users to download them and check computers at office before opening them.
According to experts’ instruction, personal users should plug off Internet lines before opening computers at office. They can backup important files after opening the offline computers at office. Then they can copy the downloaded tools to office computers and operate them and fix the loopholes before linking the computers online.
For companies’ IT server mangers, they are advised to shut down the 445 port on computers and check computers through the special tools.
Russia-based Kaspersky said it has found updated variation of the WannaCry, which brings potential risks for wider spread. Before that, Kaspersky had found many industrial firms were infected by the WannaCry attack.
All users have to install the Microsoft’s security patch by special tools or Microsoft’s website because the attack exploited Microsoft Windows vulnerabilities.
