TENCENT’S popular smartphone messenger application WeChat has teamed up with Beijing Shopin Retail Development Co to promote the WeChat payment service to customers to help ease transactions.
Customers can scan the QR code on each product by using their smartphones and pay for them through WeChat’s payment service, saving them the hassle of queueing at cashiers. The retailer opened its first WeChat payment demonstration store in Xiasha District in Hangzhou yesterday, its first outside Beijing where it has eight outlets.
