Xiaomi aims for market share recoup
XIAOMI aims to regain market share in China with its new 6.4-inch smartphone — the biggest screen in its history — which was unveiled in Beijing yesterday.
The super-thin Mi Max features a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and extended battery capacity, and costs from 1,499 yuan (US$230). Customers could pre-order the model online from yesterday, with shipments to start from next Tuesday.
Playing videos and games on the Mi Max is boosted by the longer battery life compared with Apple and Huawei models, said Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO.
But the rise of Huawei, Oppo and Vivo pushed Xiaomi out of the top five in the Chinese smartphone market in the first quarter of the year.
