iPad mini and new iPad start sales on Chinese mainland
APPLE Inc started sales of the iPad mini and iPad supporting cellular networks in the Chinese mainland today but users found it difficult to purchase iPad mini immediately.
People have to use an online reservation system to buy the new products on Apple China's website, which forces them to wait two weeks for the new 3G iPad mini.
The 3G iPad mini costs from 3,488 yuan (US$553), 1,000 yuan more compared with the Wi-Fi models. The 32 GB model for 3G costs 4,288 yuan and 5,088 yuan for 64 GB model.
People have to wait one to three working days for iPad 3G models. They cost from 4,688 yuan for 16 GB, 5,488 yuan for 32 GB and 6,288 yuan for 64 GB models.
"The best way to purchase the new mini is to order it online," said a staff of Apple Store in Huaihai Road.
Each person is allowed to buy no more than two iPads, according to Apple.
The new iPad and iPad mini debuted in the United States in October, two or three months earlier than the mainland debut.
Apple has been in talk with Chinese regulators to fasten process to debut new products in the Chinese mainland market, its second biggest regional market, Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, said during a visit to China last week.
