AstraZeneca sets up regional headquarters in Pudong

UK pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca today announced the establishment of its Asia-Pacific headquarters in the Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park in Pudong, Shanghai and said the move will boost its drug research and development to meet the needs of patients in Asia.
With an investment of US$100 million, the new headquarters will supervise AstraZeneca's manufacturing operations and drug development in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
Last year the company opened a global Clinical Operations Hub in Shanghai, one of five such hubs worldwide, to conduct phase I to phase III clinical tests of its new drugs, AstraZeneca officials said.
