Blowing more funds
SPANISH wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa plans to invest more than 90 million euros (US$115.8 million) in China in the next two years to meet demand.
This will triple Gamesa's total investment in China to more than 130 million euros from 42 million euros at the end of last year, Chairman Jorge Calvet said yesterday in Shanghai.
Gamesa has started building its sixth plant in China in Inner Mongolia, with an annual capacity of 500 megawatts, Calvet said, after announcing its fifth in Jilin Province set up four months ago.
Gamesa's production capacity in China will increase to 1,500MW a year when the two new plants start to deliver products next year. Its existing four plants in China are in Tianjin, its largest manufacturing base outside Spain.
