Ebm-papst opens R&D center in Shanghai

THE ebm-papst Group, the world's leading manufacturer of electric motors and fans, has boosted its presence in China with the opening of a new research and development center in Shanghai last Friday.
"Our energy-efficient fans and new, ultra-modern development facilities will enable us give essential support to the growing product requirements with respect to energy efficiency and conservation of resources in China," said Rainer Hundsdorfer, chairman of ebm-papst.
The German company has invested more than 5 million euros (US$6.48 million) in its research and development center in Waigaoqiao, Pudong.
In the wind power industry, ebm-papst counts wind turbine makers like Siemens and China's Sinovel as its customers. It currently generates around 150 million euros in revenue and employs 1,200 people in China.
