SHANGHAI yesterday set up an innovation base at ShanghaiMart to cater for light industry companies, aiming to restore the city's reputation for producing quality goods such as watches, bicycles and sewing-machines, while also boosting overseas sales.
The Shanghai New Pujiang Light Industry Products Export Innovation Base will receive government support to encourage exports of light industry products. It will help companies become more profitable by moving up the value chain.
Twenty companies were granted service licenses at the base.
