Interroll orders rise nearly 33% in China

THE Interroll Group, which provides internal logistics products and services, said order intake in China soared nearly a third last year, buoyed by the booming e-commerce and food processing industries.

The Switzerland-based company also inaugurated its new Asia headquarters in Shanghai today to ramp up expansion in the country, where its customers include China Post, Coca-Cola and China Tobacco.

Incoming orders grew 32.7 percent in China in 2013, an indication Interroll is on a fast growth track, it said. Revenue in Asia rose nearly 28 percent last year.

Interroll offers products such as rollers, drives and conveyors to customers like delivery firms, airports and food processors. The products help them optimize capacity of their warehouses, streamline processes and increase efficiency.

Ben Xia, executive vice president of Interroll Asia, said the “explosive growth” in China's e-commerce sector has supported the company's growth. He added e-commerce companies and courier services are using more automated solutions in the face of surging turnover and rising labor costs.

Also, tightening government requirements in cold chain and food processing in China will boost its business further, Xia said at a briefing.

“We expect the growth in demand for products, technology and solutions related with internal logistics in China to continue strong momentum in the coming few years, which will continue driving Interroll's rapid expansion here,” he said.
