R&D center for animal vaccine

GERMAN drugmaker Boehringer Ingelheim yesterday said it will invest 12 million euros (US$15.7 million) to set up its Asian Veterinary Research & Development Center in Shanghai to boost animal vaccine business.

The research facility will be located in Zhangjiang High-Tech Park and will focus on innovative vaccines targeted at specific diseases in swine and poultry.

It is the first animal health R&D facility set up by a global drug firm in China, and it's the third one for the company outside Germany and the United States.
