Reliable, competitive suppliers wanted

FOREIGN companies want more efficient Chinese partners who are able to supply products at lower costs, participants said at a forum yesterday ahead of the 2014 International Sourcing Fair.
“We are increasing our procurement in China,” said Harry Li, vice president for purchasing of Volvo Car China. “We are also raising our standards of choosing suppliers because we expect longer-term partners.”
Li said what his company looks for in suppliers are that they are technologically innovative, must maintain highest possible quality standards and work toward shortening delivery time.
Volvo Car China is among the many buyers who will attend this year’s fair, to be held at the Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Center from today to Friday, which focuses specially on supplies for car manufacturing.
