Schindler launches Shanghai escalator plant

Swiss elevator company Schindler has launched a 1.5-billion-yuan (US$240 million) escalator plant in Shanghai to meet rising regional demand.
The company also plans to build an elevator manufacturing site and a research and development center and move its China headquarters into the new facility, which covers about 300,000 square meters in Jiading District.
The new base will also supply international markets, the company said in a statement.
