Siemens to enhance basic healthcare HQ function in China
Siemens Healthcare will enhance basic healthcare headquarters function in China to ride the growth opportunities in the domestic market, under a national healthcare system that will be in place in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015).
The establishment of the global headquarters proves Siemens Healthcare's long-term commitment to China as the country has become the world's biggest and most important market for the German industrial giant, Wu Wenhui, president of Healthcare Sector Siemens Northeast Asia, told Shanghai Daily recently.
Siemens Healthcare will invest more in local R&D and production to shorten the time it takes to put products in the market and cut costs so as to provide high value products at competitive prices to the medium- and low-end market.
Siemens Healthcare is actively involved in China's sustainable development, leveraging its energy-saving experience in Europe and supports the Ministry of Health's push to set up a national green hospital standard.
An initiative called Green+ Hospital was launched by Siemens to address the increasing needs of affordable and trustworthy healthcare in urban areas while catering to ecological demands.
A green hospital comprises three key factors for sustainable healthcare infrastructure: an environment-friendly and safe building, efficient hospital operation and high-quality medical care, said Wu.
Siemens' wide range of operations, spanning from the energy sector, water treatment, lighting, IT to healthcare equipment, could cover all aspects and provide a total solution, added Wu, who took the helm at Siemens Healthcare's northeast Asia region in last October.
