Ad spending set to rise
ADVERTISING expenditure in China’s mainland is estimated to grow 7.8 percent this year to US$78.4 billion and jump 9.1 percent in 2016, according to a latest report.
China’s growth is expected to beat the 3.4 percent gain globally this year, said the media marketing and forecast report released by WPP’s media investment company GroupM.
The report forecast global advertising spending to rise 4.5 percent in 2016, lower from its mid-year outlook of 4.8 percent, amid a sluggish world economy.
GroupM maintains its mid-year forecast of a 14 percent growth in digital advertising next year although it’s lower from the predicted 17 percent growth for this year. It suggests the 2016 growth will contribute 31 percent of the global advertising budgets.
Globally, the print media is expected to take 18 percent of the advertising cake in 2016 while TV advertisement spending is set to make up 40 percent, according to GroupM.
