I-Media secure new funds to boost mobile advertising

I-MEDIA, a Chinese mobile Internet advertising company, announced today it obtained another US$20 million in venture capital as investors are banking on strong marketing spending on smart phone platforms and personal mobile devices.

Founded in 2010, I-Media secured the first round of funding from IDG Capital Partners last year. The new funds came from Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers China and IDG, the company said in a statement.

I-Media offers advertising on mobile webpages and Apple's iOS or Google's Android-based applications and also provides data tracking and analysis for advertisers.

I-Media said it will use the capital to strengthen its smart phone advertising system, upgrade its advertising platform and expand overseas cooperation.

iResearch estimates that mobile advertising will make up 11.5 percent of the total spending on Internet advertising in 2015, compared with 4.5 percent last year.
