JWT names new chiefs for Asia Pacific ad business

ADVERTISING firm J Walter Thompson announced leadership reshuffle in its Asia Pacific division as the region becomes increasingly important for its global business.
JWT, a member of the marketing communications and advertising giant WPP Group, said yesterday its North Asia Director and Greater China chief executive officer Tom Doctoroff will be promoted as JWT Asia Pacific CEO at the end of this year.
Michael Maedel, currently JWT Asia Pacific president, will become non-executive chairman for Asia Pacific. He will work in Singapore with an advisory role until his retirement in 2014.
"JWT hopes to be uniquely positioned to maximize growth in this critical and dynamic region," said JWT Worldwide Chairman and CEO Bob Jeffrey.
At the same time, JWT India CEO Colvyn Harris will also take care of businesses in Sri Lanka and Nepal and affiliated companies in India.
Both Doctoroff and Harris will report directly to Jeffery after they take their new positions.
An accredited and experienced market leader in the industry, Doctoroff joined JWT in 1992 and began to manage the firm's Northeast Asia business in 2002. He has published two books on the Chinese consumer market.
