Asian realty funds to rise
Chinese mainlanders will lead the growth in outbound real estate investment by Asian investors this year, Colliers International said yesterday in its Asia Real Estate Forecast 2014.
“Asia’s accelerating economic growth and rising industrial output and retail sales all point to a positive outlook for the region’s property markets during the coming year, when we will likely see a big increase in outbound capital investment by Asian investors,” said Simon Lo, executive director of research & advisory for Colliers International’s Asia operation.
Chinese mainland investors are set to spend at least twice as much on overseas property assets in 2014 as last year, with their favorite investment spots including London, New York and Chicago, Colliers predicted.
Institutional investors from Taiwan will also be major players following recent easing of regulations by the island over investments in those cities.
