Buyers of Evergrande homes eligible for refund
EVERGRANDE Real Estate Group Ltd, one of the largest developers in China by property sales, is offering refund to home buyers of all its residential projects across the country.
Starting yesterday, buyers of any Evergrande housing projects don’t need to give a reason when they ask for a refund before their homes are handed over, according to documents released by the Guangzhou-based developer.
“By doing so, Evergrande is making a commitment to providing high-quality products to home seekers all around the country,” Xia Haijun, vice chairman of the company, said in Guangzhou on Wednesday.
“Housing, like other commodities, should have a refund agreement and we hope that more of our counterparts will join us in offering unconditional refund so that it will become a ‘new normal’ in the property industry.”
The new refund policy will cover more than 300 residential projects in 147 cities around the country, according to Xia.
Evergrande last month reported a double-digit sales growth for 2014. Property sales jumped 31 percent by value and 22 percent by volume last year, the company said in a statement.
Evergrande has set an ambitious annual sales goal this year of 150 billion yuan (US$24.2 billion), up 14 percent from 2014.
