Fewer new homes
THE supply of new homes is expected to drop by half in Shanghai next month as real estate developers continue to keep a wary eye on the government's future stance.
As of yesterday, a total of 23 new residential projects, excluding those designated for relocated residents under urban redevelopment plans, have scheduled launches in August, a drop of 55 percent from same time a year earlier, according to soufun.com, a real estate information website.
On a month-on-month basis, it fell 49 percent from July, soufun statistics showed.
Sixteen projects, or 70 percent of the total, are apartment developments while 19 projects are beyond the city's Outer Ring Road. Five new projects to be introduced next month are in the Pudong New Area, outnumbering any other district or county.
