Local developers bring fewer new homes for sale

THE last month of 2012 will continue to see lukewarm sentiment among real estate developers who will release only 22 housing developments to the market, real estate website Soufun.com said today.
Of the 22 developments, 12 are located beyond the city's Outer Ring Road, compared with 47 so far this month and 38 in December last year, Soufun said.
"Most developers have already achieved their annual sales targets as buying sentiment improved in the past six months," said Qu Peng, a Soufun analyst. "Therefore, instead of releasing more homes, many chose to make planning for next year."
From May to October, the monthly sales of new homes in Shanghai stayed above 800,000 square meters with June's volume exceeding 1 million square meters, according to data from Shanghai Uwin Real Estate Information Services Co.
By district, Qingpu is expected to release five developments, the most in the city, next month. It will be followed by Jiading and Yangpu, each with four developments opening to buyers, Soufun data showed.
