Mayor Outlines Homes Strategy
SHANGHAI home prices were "too high" and the city government would go all out to help ease the public's purchase difficulties, Mayor Han Zheng said yesterday.
The city, he said, would improve daily living conditions for residents while boosting its economy, with the housing issue a priority.
"Housing prices in Shanghai are too high after a rapid recent rise," he said when meeting a Hong Kong business delegation.
The mayor said the city would set up a housing guarantee system, including low-rent housing, budget homes and homes designated for relocated residents under urban redevelopment plans.
