New home price climbs in September as sales stabilize
CHINA'S new home prices rose for the fourth straight month in September as sales stabilized, China Index Academy said in a survey released today.
The average price of 100 mainland cities edged up 0.17 percent in September to 8,753 yuan (US$1,389) per square meter, according to the academy, an affiliate with Soufun Holdings Ltd which runs China's largest real estate website.
The increase, however, was lower than the 0.24 percent monthly climb in August.
Property sales rebounded in the third quarter, compared with the same period last year with developers offering limited discounts to boost sales and ease capital crunch, Soufun said.
A total of 60 cities reported monthly rise in new home prices and 38 cities saw monthly drop. Two cities remained unchanged.
Kunshan in Jiangsu Province saw the biggest gain, rising 2 percent over August.
The average cost of new homes in the 10 largest cities, including Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, stood at 15,573 yuan, adding 0.22 percent from a month ago.
