New housing policy
MAYOR Han Zheng says he will make an important announcement today on Shanghai's housing policy, in a bid to attract young professionals unable to afford housing.
"Young professionals hold the future of Shanghai - they could be future academicians and future professors. It is sad that they leave Shanghai because of too expensive housing," Han said yesterday.
The new policy could be controversial "but it is to guarantee the rights of living for people, not to guarantee their wealth," Han said.
Details will be unveiled during a session of the Shanghai People's Congress today.
