Overall sentiment for housing ‘still slack’
Robust demand for mid- to high-end properties saw sales of new homes rise in Shanghai last week, but an analyst said they were below the average weekly sales over the past 12 months.
The purchases of new homes rose 13.5 percent weekly to 179,200 square meters during the week through Sunday, Shanghai Uwin Real Estate Information Services Co said yesterday.
But “the overall sentiment was still slack compared with the 236,700 square meter weekly average in the city over the past 12 months,” said Huang Zhijian, chief analyst at Uwin.
