Robust buying during holiday

New home sales during the National Day holiday totaled 94,000 square meters in Shanghai, with mid- to low-end properties being the most popular among buyers, Century 21 China Real Estate said yesterday.
The volume was almost equivalent to that of the three-day Mid Autumn Festival holiday during which 93,000 square meters of new homes were sold from September 19.
“The data demonstrated rather flat sentiment as many home seekers chose to travel or visit relatives and friends during the week-long holiday instead of purchasing houses,” said Huang Hetao, a Century 21 research manager. “However, we expect market momentum to extend for another month right after the holiday.”
