Singapore firm inks cool resort project
Singapore-based KOP Properties has inked a deal to build what it says will be the world’s largest integrated indoor winter resort in Shanghai.
Called Winterland Shanghai, it will boast the world’s longest indoor ski trail, KOP Properties said in a statement yesterday. The resort will cost 13.5 billion yuan (US$2.2 billion) to build on a 180,000 square meter land.
Without disclosing the specific location, the company said “the landmark development will be located in a highly accessible new development zone in Shanghai with access to the city’s railway system.”
KOP Properties Chairman Ong Chih Ching said the Winterland Shanghai project will be integrated to provide a variety of entertainment, shopping and sporting activities.
The resort will be built into a community where residents live, work and play and have access to a monorail, gardens, retail, and restaurants. It will have an entertainment center with a 4D theater offering movies, theatrical shows and concerts, the statement said.
The developer said it has signed a framework agreement with a district government. It plans to begin construction in the third quarter of 2014 and finish by 2018.
