Under 200,000 square meters of new houses sold
THE sales of new homes in Shanghai stayed below 200,000 square meters for the second week in a row despite a double-digit rebound from the previous seven days.
The purchases of new homes, excluding government-funded affordable housing, rose 10.9 percent to 192,300 square meters last week, Shanghai Uwin Real Estate Information Services Co said yesterday.
The average cost the new homes fell 2.6 percent to 24,600 yuan (US$3,961) per square meter, the first drop in six weeks.
"A rather low sentiment in the first two weeks of this month indicated that the city's housing market is returning to a ?normal' situation following panic buying in March," said Huang Zhijian, chief analyst at Uwin.
