A splash on debut
CHINA Communications Construction, the country's largest builder of ports, roads and bridges, advanced 23.3 percent on its debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange yesterday after raising 5 billion yuan (US$793 million) in an initial public offering.
The stock opened at 6.99 yuan, a 29.4 percent jump from the 5.40 yuan offering price. The company closed at 6.66 yuan.
Last month, the company set its offering price at 10.43 times that of its 2010 earnings, the lowest price/earnings ratio level since IPOs resumed on the domestic stock market in 2009.
