Air China eyes travel at high end
AIR China was reportedly in talks with the Beijing municipal government to set up a business jet company to tap the country's booming high-end travel market.
The Beijing-based carrier is seeking a controlling stake in the new airline which will serve high-end clients and it is likely to sign a framework agreement with the government in the near future, China Business News quoted an unnamed source as saying yesterday.
"Business travel demand is related to the fast-growing economy in China, so the business jet market will grow bigger and bigger," Huang Bin, board secretary of Air China, told Shanghai Daily yesterday.
But he added that he has "no idea about Air China's plan" to set up the company, which targets high-end passengers such as political officials, business leaders and entertainment stars.
