Air passengers go missing
CHINA Eastern Airlines Corp, the nation's third-largest carrier, reported the first drop in annual passenger numbers in at least nine years, hurt by natural disasters and a slowing economy.
The carrier flew 37.1 million travelers last year, 5.4 percent fewer than a year earlier, it said on its Website yesterday. Cargo volume fell 5.6 percent to 887,000 tons. China Eastern also expects to report its third annual loss in four years after disasters forced the cancellations of hundreds of flights, Bloomberg News said.
