Airline sells items quietly
SPRING Airlines will cancel its "talk show" style promotion to sell products on board planes from next month after passengers complained about the "noisy service."
But China's first budget carrier will still sell products on board the aircraft by showing them to passengers quietly and offering a home delivery service, it said yesterday.
"The suspension of the 'talk show' style sales service will reduce our revenue by between 30 million yuan (US$4.38 million) and 40 million yuan this year," said Wang Zhenghua, chairman of Shanghai-based Spring Air.
The carrier also said yesterday it plans to launch regular direct flights from Shanghai to Kagawa in Japan twice weekly from July 15 after a four-month delay due to the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Spring Airlines had originally hoped to start the flights on March 27.
