Another Qantas plane grounded due to engine failure
ANOTHER Qantas plane has been grounded in Australia with engine failure, local media reported today.
News Limited reported that the QF1 flight to London of Britain via Bangkok of Thailand was due to leave Sydney of Australia yesterday at 6.05pm (AEDT).
Passengers were pulled off the plane after a loud noise emanated from the engine while they were taxiing towards the runway. The flight was later canceled.
"The aircraft was taxiing to the runway and the pilot had an indication of an issue with one of the engines, and following procedures it returned to the bay," a Qantas spokesman told News Limited today.
Ironically, the incident came after Qantas CEO Alan Joyce yesterday held a media conference to assure the public the company is now "100 percent confident" A380 planes are safe.
In a bid to prove the safety of Qantas A380s, Joyce joined flight QF31 to Singapore, which left Sydney of Australia at 5:30pm AEDT with a full load of 453 passengers. The airline has confirmed that flight landed safely in Singapore.
Earlier this month, six fleet of Qantas A380 planes have been out of service, since the QF32 emergency landing in Singapore airport after an explosion in one of its four engines over the Indonesian island of Batam.
