Boeing, Bombardier keen to sell more small jets to China
THE US plane maker Boeing plans to deliver three to five business jets to China every year by 2015 as the country's demand for business jets grows, a senior Boeing official said today at the Shanghai International Business Aviation Show.
Another official from Bombardier, a major manufacturer of business aircraft in Canada, predicted that a total of 600 small planes will be added to China's business jet fleet in the next 10 years and his company is eyeing for a market share bigger than 27 percent now.
Boeing will deliver three BBJ jets to Chinese buyers this year with two to HNA Capital Airlines and one to the newly-founded Beijing Airlines.
"With relaxed policies and a growing number of aircraft management companies, more business jets will be introduced to China," said Steve Taylor, president of Boeing Business Jets.
The company has delivered eight business jets to Chinese buyers and aims to carve a 50 percent market share for large-sized business jets in the country.
Boeing is also in talks with Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co Ltd and Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co Ltd to make interior for its business jets, Taylor said.
David Dixon, regional vice president of Bombardier Business Aircraft Asia Pacific, said, "We have seen China's business leaders embrace the value of business aviation. Business jet owners are often investors driving the local economy, while Chinese companies operating or utilizing business aviation services are also active investors overseas," he said.
More than 50 Bombardier business jets – Global, Challenger and Learjet -- are in use in China.
