China planemaker expects domestic fleet size to soar
COMMERCIAL Aircraft Corporation of China today predicted that China will need 5,541 passenger aircraft over the next 20 years.
The manufacturer of China’s first single aisle passenger aircraft C919 said the number of passenger aircraft will double to nearly 39,800 worldwide by 2033 and the single-aisle jets will still be prominent with the number expected to reach 25,672.
The fleet of Chinese carriers will expand rapidly with its share in the global market to increase from 17 percent to the current 11 percent, the corporation said on the 10th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in southeast Zhuhai City.
Emerging market represented by the BRICS and global low-cost airlines will become important impetuses for the growth of single-aisle jets. Over the next 20 years, new single-aisle jets valued at US$2,049.4 billion will be delivered, the corporation said.
In the next 20 years, the proportion of regional jet fleet will reduce from 18 percent in 2013 to 14 percent in 2033. About 4,541 regional jets will be delivered, 86 percent of which will be 90-seat jets.
