Deliveries of business jets slated to slip

ABOUT 9,200 new business jets will be delivered around the world in the next decade, Honeywell Aerospace said yesterday.
The figure is about 5 percent lower than the company forecast in 2014.
The value of the aircraft will be 270 billion yuan (US$42 billion), the company said at the 2016 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition, which opened in Shanghai yesterday.
The lower forecast is due to a slowdown in global economic growth and “political tensions,” said Brian Sill, president of business and general aviation.
Emerging markets continue to be a bright spot for business aviation, but demand is weaker elsewhere, he said.
About 700 jets were delivered in 2015 but the total is likely to be lower this year, he said.
The helicopter industry has also slowed, he said, adding that 4,300 to 4,800 civilian models will be delivered between 2016 and 2020, or 400 fewer than was forecast last year.
