Domestic jets in demand
CHINA'S first homemade regional jet, the ARJ21, has received a total of 252 orders while the C919 jumbo jet has attracted 280 orders, the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) said yesterday.
The assembling center in Shanghai will be able to deliver the first C919 aircraft in 2015 when some 50 ARJ21 jets can be produced annually at the center, the COMAC said.
China is investing 200 billion yuan (US$31.4 billion) in developing its domestic jumbo jet.
The C919, with 150 seats and a flying range of 4,075 kilometers, is due to make its first flight in 2014, while Chengdu Airlines will receive the first batch of ARJ21 by the end of 2013.
