Duty-free shop to get bigger

HONGQIAO International Airport will boast a larger duty-free store in Terminal 1 after undergoing a major renovation scheduled to start late this year.

The 2,000-square-meter new duty-free store for international passengers will be a huge improvement from the current 400-square-meter one, an official with the Shanghai Airport Authority said yesterday.

Alcohol, cigarettes and cosmetics will be the major products at the new duty-free store. The airport authority said the T1 duty-free shops will also hold several discount promotions after the renovation, its largest since the terminal opened in 1921.

The renovation will also add shower rooms and changing rooms to T1.
