First home-produced regional passenger jets presented in city

CHINA presented its first two domestically produced regional passenger jets for delivery next year in Shanghai this afternoon.

The two 90-seat ARJ-21 jets were presented at a hangar of the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China in Baoshan District.

The planes will be delivered to Chengdu Airlines after final test flights in May.

With 252 orders, the jet has received all the required certificates. It has completed 2,200 safe takeoffs and landings as well as more than 4,200 hours of flying.

COMAC is expected to assemble 50 ARJ-21 regional jets annually as of 2014 and 150 C919 jumbo jets by 2020.
