HNA may bid
HNA Group Co, controlled by the Hainan provincial government, yesterday said it may bid for Hochtief AG's airport-operating unit as it seeks to expand in Europe.
The group is in talks to bid for the division, Tong Fu, a company spokesman, said by phone. He didn't elaborate. Bernd Puetter, spokesman for Hochtief, declined to comment.
Hochtief, based in Essen, Germany, said last month that its planned sale of the division is progressing and there had been "strong feedback from interested parties" for the sale as well as for a public offering for the unit.
Acquisition of the business will give the buyer control of main airports serving Hamburg, Sydney, Budapest and Athens.
