Maritime innovation on display

CHINA’S latest maritime innovation will be on show at Asia’s largest maritime exhibition, Marintec China 2015.
The country’s top state-owned shipbuilding companies, including China Shipbuilding Industry Corp and China State Shipbuilding Corp, will unveil their newest oceanic diesel engines and oil pumps. China’s first self-developed luxurious cruise liner is also slated to be displayed but no details were released.
The event, which runs from today to Friday at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, is held amid a backdrop of sinking new orders received by Chinese shipyards.
Latest figures from the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry showed that Chinese shipbuilders saw a 62 percent dive year on year in volume of new orders received in the first 10 months of 2015.
The recession in China’s shipbuilding industry is part of a worldwide downward trend.
