No. 1 port again
SHANGHAI'S container throughput continued to rank first in the world after it overtook Singapore to become the world's busiest port last month, as exports rebounded strongly.
Ports in Shanghai handled a total of 2.54 million twenty equivalent units (TEUs), up 14.3 percent from a year ago, local port authority said. Throughput in the first nine months this year jumped 18.5 percent to 21.6 million TEUs.
Cargo throughput was 54.17 million tons in September, or 0.7 percent more than the same period last year.
