October may see new C919 deals
COMMERCIAL Aircraft Corp of China Ltd yesterday said it's likely to announce the next orders in October for its C919 jetliner, the nation's first large passenger plane.
COMAC, as the Shanghai-based plane maker is also known, won't be announcing any contracts for the aircraft at this week's Farnborough Airshow, Tao Zhihui, general manager for international cooperation and supplier management, said at the UK show.
The C919, which is leading China's challenge to Boeing Co and Airbus SAS, has so far attracted 280 orders, Tao said.
The 150-seat aircraft is due to make its first flight in 2014 and enter service two years later.
