Pilot zone to extend
A cross-border e-commerce pilot zone in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, will be extended to other parts of China, the Ministry of Commerce said yesterday.
“The Ministry of Commerce firmly supports the development of the cross-border e-commerce industry and has been actively drafting a working scheme to promote cross-border and relevant regulatory rules,” spokesperson Shen Danyang told a press briefing yesterday.
The pilot program sees Hangzhou taking the lead in setting standards on cross-border e-commerce transactions, payment, logistics, customs clearance, tax refund and exchange settlement. By the end of October, cross-border e-commerce transactions through Hangzhou’s pilot zone totaled US$1.7 billion.
