Pudong maritime hub plan
PUDONG Avenue will be built into a maritime boulevard to bolster Shanghai's ambitious plan to develop itself into a shipping hub, government officials of Pudong New Area said yesterday.
Nearly 1,000 shipping institutes and firms have set up offices on the avenue's prime section between Pudong Road S. and Luoshan Road. In the next step, Pudong government plans to attract more companies engaged in high-end shipping service, including shipping finance and financial leasing services.
Meanwhile, Pudong's Yangjing area will be developed into a shipping industry cluster zone. The area has 221.5 hectares of space available for development.
