10 new cinemas

MORE than 10 cinemas will open in Hangzhou by the end of the year to ease ticket shortages for popular movies and provide better viewing experiences for film fans.
Poly International Cinema at Xixi area, Smooth Shadow Cinema near Wulin Square, Jinyi International Cinema in Shangcheng District and Zeyi Cinema in Qianjiang New City have already opened this year.
In Xixi, another two cinemas with state-of-the-art facilities, including IMAX 3D, will open by year end. Visitors to the area can tour Xixi Wetland first, then do some shopping and watch a movie, all in one day.
"Most of the new cinemas are in the west, north and Xiasha area where there is a lack of cinemas at the moment," said Qian Dajun, chairman of Time Cinema.
The first multifunctional cinema in Hangzhou was built in 1999. Movie fans have long complained that it is hard to get tickets for the most popular movies.
