10 projects for public
Zhejiang has vowed to do 10 practical things closely related to the people’s livelihood in 2018, according a government work report delivered by Governor Yuan Jiajun at the legislators’ meeting in Hangzhou.
This year’s 10 life-improving projects were among 16 proposals put forward, selected and done by the people for the people. They are all related to issues people in the province are concerned about.
The 10 projects include: to set up 300 wet markets in urban and rural areas; renovate 1,500 kitchens in rural areas for villagers to hold banquets; to set up 500 workshops to make food; and to introduce a food safety traceability system in all counties, cities and districts with agriculture industry.
Two hundred kindergartens will be set up to improve the quality of education, while a number of kindergartens with poor facilities will be closed down or merged.
The Metro system will be expanded to 500 kilometers, 100,000 parking spaces will be added, 5,000 buses will be equipped with mobile payment facilities and 1,000 kilometers of greenways will be constructed.
In addition, three provincial-level national fitness centers, 30 grassroots national fitness centers or squares will be set up. One hundred swimming pools and 100 soccer fields will be constructed. Garbage sorting systems will be set up in 20 counties, cities or districts, covering 80 percent and 50 percent of garbage in urban and rural areas respectively.
Zhejiang started to introduce the annual 10 life improving projects in 2005. And since 2014, public opinions have been solicited by open letters and online voting to decide the 10 projects for each year.
