14 drown in month
FOURTEEN people were drowned in Hangzhou in the past month, prompting the police to warn the public that caution should be taken when swimming in rivers.
In the latest incident, three workers were drown in the Qiantang River. They were thought to have gone for a swim on July 23 at about 3am, when their work shift ended.
The Qiantang River is particularly dangerous, police said, because it can reach up to 10 meters in depth and flows at about 6 meters a second.
