168 deals signed

THE Hangzhou International Talent Communication and Cooperation Conference opened last Wednesday. Agreements on a total of 168 projects worth a combined 1.65 billion yuan, up 20 percent from last year, were signed on the opening day.

About 500 overseas professionals or returnees from 23 countries or regions took part in discussions about the city’s 676 projects. They covered IT, networking, medicine, new materials, finance, education and modern agriculture. In addition, 32 innovation and start-up programs have also drawn a great deal of attention among local entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

A mobile service platform based on cloud computing has also attracted interest. It was designed by Wei Liqun, who holds an MBA from the College of Engineering and Computer Science, Florida Atlantic University. Wei said the first phase of the platform aims to provide online education consulting and tourism solutions in Hangzhou.
